ROBIN CLOUD began her performance career at the Hartford Children’s Theatre where she debuted in You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown as the dynamic Cheerleader #2. It was then that Robin knew the theatre was her calling. After attending high school at the Greater Hartford Academy of Performing Arts, Robin attended Howard University where she graduated with a BS in film studies. In 1999, Robin moved to New York to attend Columbia University and graduated with a MS in Historic Preservation.
Once settled into New York, Robin began performing as a singer/songwriter and booked gigs at clubs throughout the city as a solo artist as well as with her band. She successfully completed a CD demo titled Off Kilter. After two years of playing, Robin decided to return to her theatrical roots and began studying stand up and improv.
Since then she has been seen spewing her inner most thoughts, passions, and comedic observations to the masses at Caroline's, The Duplex, New York Comedy Club, The Laugh Lounge and The Peoples Improv Theatre; at times in the form of characters Jerri Beige, Angela Davison and JD West. Robin is one of the founding members of the sketch group Connecticrack and is currently studying acting with Larry Singer at the Michael Howard Studios. She has been invited to perform in some of the city’s finest comedy shows including Chick and Giggles, Coming Out!, and Comedy vs. Poetry. Most recently, Robin was selected as an actor in the Raw Readings Series at Galapagos Art Space and can be seen as one of the cast members in the hysterical play Happy Hour.
Robin’s one woman show Tales from the Big House debuted in this year’s Fresh Fruit Festival. It isa comical coming of age story about a young African-American woman who gallantly claims her lesbian identity at the age of 16 only to find that being a lesbian is only half the battle. In addition, Robin’s writing was highlighted in Time Out New York’s Gay Pride Issue as the quote of the week and feature story about comedians telling their hysterical coming out stories.
It was during this year’s Fresh Fruit Festival that Robin had another chance to meet and perform with the fabulous Clover Honey who introduced Robin to Tony Sawicki who then invited her to join the cast of the hit television show Under the Pink Carpet. When not entertaining the masses with comedy, Robin is avid painter, singer/songwriter, and Vespa enthusiast.
